GP won the prestigious Silver Award (Second Place) in the Apparel sector – Large scale category at All island Social Dialogue Excellence Competition 2015 organized by Human Resources Development Division of Department of Labour, Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations Sri Lanka. SD Excellence Awards recognizes and rewards Organizations for aspiring Social Dialogue and work place cooperation enabling “ A Decent work Environment”.
The awards Ceremony was held on 17th December 2015 at “ Nelum Pokuna” with the patronage of His Excellency the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Hon. Maithripala Sirisena. The distinguished guests included Minister Of Labour and Trade Union Relations Hon. John Senevirathne, State Minister Hon. Ravindra Samaraweera, Mr. Gotabhaya Jayarathne ,Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Mr. Donglin Li, Country Director, ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mr. Mahinda Madihahewa, Chairman, ETF Board, Commissioner Of Labour, together with distinguished gathering including business organizations. The performances by employees representing their Organizations added colour and glamour to the ceremony including GP Dancing troupe which spiced up the event with their eye-catching folk dance.
Mr. Serge Watte, General Manager together with Mr. Patrice Jermann, the Chief Finance Officer and Mr. Saman Wijesundara, the Senior Manager- HR received the Silver Award and the Certificate from Minister of Labour & Trade Union Relations, Hon. John Senevirathne. GP is honoured to step upwards from the Bronze Award (Third Place) in 2014 to Silver Award this year.
GP is proud of employee accolades at the ceremony including winning 1st Place in Art Competition by Ms. Chaturika Dilhani, 2nd Place in Short Video competition by Mr. Samith Beneragama, 1st Place in Tamil poetry by Ms. F.G.A. Jebamali, 3rd place of the same by Ms. I. Dharshika, 2nd Place in Poster competition by Sadamali Somaweera, 3rd place in Essay competition by Ms. Deepthi Udayanganee, 2nd place in Tamil essay by S. Priyadarshanie, 3rd place of the same by F.B.A. Jebamali, and Merit awards won by Ms. Anusha Rupasinghe for Sinhala poetry, Ms. M. Pradeepa and M. Priyadharshanie for Tamil essays.
