FIRST WORKING DAY AT GP in 2015......................
Followed by a two weeks break during Christmas and New year holidays, GP employees flocked together at the annual ceremony to resume work on January 12th 2015.
The event began with lighting the oil lamp, paying one minute silence to the war heroes and commemorating GP chairman, late Mr. Geert Derere. Traditional pooja dance was performed by gp senior dancing team, gracing the occasion while invoking blessings of deities for a successful year to gp and the employees.
Mr. JananathWarakagoda, eminent vocalist, musician was the chief guest at this event while sharing his thoughts, appreciated the opportunities provided by gp to bring about the the hidden talents and skills of employees in dance, music, poetry, oratory and sports. Special guests of honour at the event were Director (Zonal) BOI Avissawella ,two officers from Social Dialogue & Workplace cooperation unit of Ministry of Labour &Labour Relations, Colombo.
Employees were addressed by the General Manager who shared the challenges of 2015 inviting cooperation, team work and dedication from employees as before.Mr. Patrice, the CFO made his speech in sinhala wishing the best for the new year and thanked employees for their contribution while balancing the work and extra events throughout the year. The management appreciated the achievements,performance and contribution of employees in year 2014 by distribution of gifts and plaques.
In the afternoon, the gala musical show opened the dance floor to employees and proved that “GP’s got talent”. Not only Singing stars of gp but also the dancing stars shined and twinkled at the event.Popular singers including Sirasa super star AmilaNadeeshani, Chamika Sirimanna, former flash back member NadeeraNonis, Shadow star Shiran together with the band Music lovers rocked the dance floor.
This gala event meant to boost employee morale and a drive for another challenging year…………………….
