Art Competition- December 2014

With the objective of recognizing employee talents and skills, the Annual Art Competition 2014 was held on 14.12.2014 at GP premises. Participants were given their free will to select a theme and do the drawings and the assessments were under the patronage of a panel of judges.

GP shines at SD Excellence Award 2014………………..

GP Garments shared a joyous and delighted moment on 09^th December 2014 with the winning of Bronze Award under the Apparel sector – Large scale category for the Second consecutive year and 12 other individual awards for employees in All island Social Dialogue Excellence Competition  2014 organized by Social Dialogue and Work place cooperation unit of Department of Labour, Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations Sri Lanka.

Held annually, SD Excellence Awards recognizes and rewards Organizations for aspiring Social Dialogue and strengthening work place cooperation enabling “ A Decent work Environment”. With 37 member panel of Judges the competition criteria of the apparel sector category included;

• Use of Social Dialogue Systems and workplace cooperation Methods

• Employee appreciation systems

• Management systems and methods to establish social dialogue and productivity concepts

• Employee facilities, benefits and Industrial Relationship

• Employee Safety, Health and Welfare

• Progress of the Organization  compared to last year

• Increase of generation of employment compared to last year

• Number of strikes compared to last year

• Any other awards and accreditation of the Organization

This year’s awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Mr. Gamini Lokuge the Hon. Minister of Labour and Labour Relations and other distinguished guests from Ministries and participants all over the country.GP Dancing troupe graced the occasion adding colours to the event at this unforgettable day in the Journey of GP………………………..

Hon. Minister Mr. Gamini Lokuge gave away the Broze award to Mr. Serge Watte, the General Manager, who resented GP together with Mr. Patrice Jermann the Chief Finance Officer and Mr. Saman Wijesundara the Senior Manager- HR.

On 10^th December 2014 a supplementary to a Sri Lankan local newspaper, “Dinamina” published its coverage report on this event.

GP is so proud of the two All Island First Places including Tamil Medium essay competition and poem competition,Three All Island Second places, Two All Island third places and five merit awards making 12 Individual places won by GP employees altogether at the competition..

Annual Trip to Galle 2014

Annual Trip to Galle on 22^nd November 2014 is a memorable day for all at GP………..

The Gala event of the year arranged by the management for the GP employees………to have fun …..and joy…………….

Samanala Grounds, Galle was ready with an array of events including magic shows, hit and win, throw and win, musical chairs were some of the fun games meant for the employees and staff….two museum visits at Galle Fort let employees to gather knowledge and information too……

Yummy meals and lunch ………..the DJ music opening a dance floor of “never to miss a chance to dance” and events filled with fun offered an awesome day out for all the employees to gear themselves for a better productivity………………..
